WORCESTERSHIRE PARKWAY STATION
After years in planning the new Station near Abbotswood finally opened its doors to the public on 23rd February 2020.

Steve Widdowson was at the station on its opening and all these photographs were taken by him.
A general view of the ststion (left) and class 800 No.800028 at the Worcester/London platform with the 13.45 London to Hereford service (traincode No.1W03).
The main advantage that the new station has over the others in Worcester is the hourly Cross Country Trains service from Cardiff to Birmingham and Nottingham which opens up new travel opportunities and at last provides a decent service to Cheltenham for connections to Bristol, Devon and Cornwall.

Right: Nos.170115 and 170518 at Parkway with the 14.45 service from Cardiff (train code 1M98).

This photograph (taken by Andrew Smith on Monday 23rd March 2020) shows the devastating effect of the lockdown in Great Britain caused by the Coronavirus disease.  The car part at Worcestershire Parkway was almost empty (apart from six vehicles elsewhere on the car park) as the 08.50 from London Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill (train code No.1W07) waits to leave.
