We admit to having an interest in this book as the author, Andrew Doherty, has been very helpful in providing information for this site concerning his research in and around Birmingham and he has also provided some photographs at Dudley.

This absolutely fascinating book describes seventy railway stations (many now closed) in and around Birmingham on a 'before' and 'after' basis but unlike many books on this subject Andrew has a eye for detail and has actively sought out evidence of earlier times. His diligence has been rewarded by such gems as formerly unknown trackside remains of the Halesowen Railway hidden in woods near Rubery.

This book will delight anyone interested in railway history and with 128 pages for only £17.99 it represents very good value for money.
